When you think about it, when do most couples fight? When they are stressed out over work, kids, other pressures and don't get to have the alone time they once had.

What can we do as a couple to help dissolve this tension and rebuild the relationship? Spend that quality alone time together that we first had when we got together.

This can be done with or without the kids, maybe even cycled. I find it so refreshing just to take the kids to the play ground and let them play while I talk to my wife. Most of the time we can spend the time relaxing and blowing steam.

It is important to have the time just for you and your spouse too though. This can even save a failing marriage. I once worked for a very smart man. If he and his wife started arguing, it was time to take a day or two off and get out of Dodge. His kids were all gone, so it was easier to just pickup and get a room outside of town, but the point is he spent the time with his wife and no one else.

My answer for those with kids is simple. Date night. Get a sitter once or twice a month (more if you need it) go out have a good time and relax and enjoy each other. If you plan it right, the kids will be asleep when you get home and you can spend more time with each other at home.
