It is very important to me to attend Mass as a family and to go to communion as a family even though my children cannot receive. My children are all under 4 and have always enjoyed going to Mass. However the last 4 or so Sundays, two of them have been really trying my patience. They get loud, they want to play, they want to distract other kids and they whine. I let them take little toys or coloring books to keep them busy even though I'd rather not. I'd rather teach them to sit still and listen. I know toddlers are not going to sit still that long. But they won't play with the toys either.

But my point is, this past Sunday at Mass, I have never been so emabarrased by their loudness, their giddiness, and whining. By the time we left, I was so angry we went straight home and sent them to bed to nap. I don't want to take them out or send them to the nursery because it is important to me to be there as a family. What should I do? Believe me I was praying the Holy Spirit would grant me more patience. After communion we did walk out to the narthex so that others could pray in quiet. My children were quiet and good outside the sanctuary! I don't get it.
