The thought of a panel of people setup to win Catholics for Obama appalls me. To hear that it was dissolved, doesn't surprise me in the least. How can a Catholic vote for Obama to begin with? But then, for actual church officials to be on a panel for the cause of trying to get Catholics to vote for such a person?
Let's look at the kind of people he had on said panel. Fr. Pfleger, you might remember a recent post of mine on this guy. Turns out he actually resigned from the council after being suspended indefinitely as a priest. Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, wow, she was just asked to "not present herself for Holy Communion" due to her views on abortion. Edward Kennedy and John Kerry, are both on the panel. Do you think either of them has any clue whatsoever as to what a Catholic is (even though they may profess to be Catholic and an ex-seminarian at that)? I would go on, but I think you get the picture. A suspended priest and a few heretics. Yes, that's right, I used the H word. [Read More]
Wait a minute what?!? We are teaching about Islam in our schools? Last I heard we weren't even allowed to have a moment of silence at ball games because it had some sort of religious ties.
It turns out that the pro-Islamic groups have been pressuring the American Text Book Counsel to change the books to make them look less violent. They are trying to change words like Jihad to make them sound nicer and not violent. Making other "adjustments" to either change the connotation or simply remove portions of the lesson plan altogether in order to avoid "inconvenient truths" that might damage the view of Islam. When I read the headline, I was a little miffed at the Cardinal. How can he suspend a priest for making anti-Hillary comments? OK, well, I guess they are not supposed to criticize politicians directly, or try to influence public office. Rather they should be advising on the issues. You cannot vote for a pro-abortionist, you cannot vote yes on this issue or that, or for someone that supports those ideas...
Well, it looks like it goes deeper than just anti-Hillary comments. As I read on, I found myself trying to figure out what the priest was thinking and siding more and more with the Cardinal. You mean Fr. Pfleger was at Obama's former church and he was openly mocking Hillary? He was hanging out with Rev. Wright? What was he doing there to begin with? Then to talk about Hillary and Obama as if to promote Obama...
I personally have no problem with him making fun of Hillary. I would be the first to tell you I think her politics, and her views are communist at best. But to promote Obama over Hillary (or vice versa) is the most idiotic think I have heard from a priest (and most lay people) in my life. For a Catholic, not just a priest, but any Catholic, to promote either would be a sin I would think, given their views on religion, abortion, and a whole slew of others. They are wrong on just about every point I think I have heard them argue. [Read More]
The Archbishop of Kansas City, Kansas has asked the Governor not to receive Communion until he changes his views on abortion. This is a growing trend in the US. I hope to see more "Political Catholics" treated in this manner. While I am not familiar with this Bishop, he sounds like a very strong man, and I hope he continues to push on.
The Catholic Church as many already knows is dead-set against abortion and is not waiving on this topic. The Catholic Church views Abortion as killingmurder, and the act of, support of, or any combination is therefore a mortal sin. You cannot receive Communion in the state of sin. This is simply a logical enforcement of Catholic Beliefs and Doctrine. [Read More]
Be Proud of Being Catholic (Excerpts of an article written by Sam Miller, prominent Cleveland Jewish businessman - NOT Catholic)
Why would newspapers carry on a vendetta on one of the most important institutions that we have today in the United States, namely the Catholic Church?
Do you know - the Catholic Church educates 2.6 million students everyday at the cost to your Church of 10 billion dollars, and a savings on the other hand to the American taxpayer of 18 billion dollars. Your graduates go on to graduate studies at the rate of 92%, all at a cost to you. To the rest of the Americans it's free. The Church has 230 colleges and universities in the U.S. with an enrollment of 700,000 students.
The Catholic Church has a non-profit hospital system of 637 hospitals, which account for hospital treatment of 1 out of every 5 people - not just Catholics - in the United States today. But the press is vindictive and trying to totally denigrate in every way the Catholic Church in this country. They have blamed the disease of pedophilia on the Catholic Church, which is as irresponsible as blaming adultery on the institution of marriage.
Let me give you some figures that you as Catholics should know and remember. [Read More]
